Compass Box The Story of the Spaniard. Image courtesy Compass Box.This blended malt is heavily influenced by ex-Sherry and Spanish red wine casks, and the nose has notes of toffee, figs, red grapes, plums, and hints of citrus fruits. The taste has a thick, creamy mouthfeel with good baking spices, pears, figs, and red grapes. Adding water accentuates the spices and fruity notes on the palate, while making the finish even longer with notes of raspberry jam, cherry cobbler, vanilla, and lingering spices. John Glaser and his team at Compass Box have done it again! (April, 2019)
